Trump Claims He Faced More Challenges Than Assassinated Lincoln
In a recent interview with Mark Levin on Fox News, former President Donald Trump claimed that he was treated worse than any other ex-president in history, even worse than Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated. The discussion explored the challenges Trump faced during his time in office and his thoughts on the matter.
When asked by Levin if he ever questioned what he had gotten himself into, Trump responded, "So if I had to do again, I would have done it with all I have to go through." He went on to compare himself to other presidents who faced significant challenges, such as Andrew Jackson, whose wife died during his presidency, and Lincoln, who dealt with the Civil War.
Trump argued that his treatment was worse than both Jackson and Lincoln, citing the accusations of Russian collusion, which he referred to as "phony stuff" and "hoaxes." He claimed that the Mueller investigation, which found no evidence of collusion, was a "witch hunt." Trump stated, "But now they say Trump got treated the worst of all because what they did is they came up with phony stuff Russia, Russia, Russia."
Despite the adversities he faced, Trump insisted that his presidency was "one of the most successful presidencies in history." He credited his administration with building the greatest economy ever and expressed confidence in doing it again.
During the interview, Trump also discussed the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, suggesting that it was released from a lab in Wuhan, China. He claimed that the virus escaped due to incompetence, saying, "But I said, and I’ve said right from the beginning, it was the lab in Wuhan. It got out. It got out of the lab. I think it was incompetence, I really believe it was incompetence."
The former president's assertions about his treatment and the challenges he faced while in office have garnered attention and sparked discussions about the hardships experienced by past presidents and the role adversity plays in shaping a presidency.
