Daisy Ridley's Star Wars Return: A Supporting Role in Upcoming Jedi Order Film?
Daisy Ridley is set to make a highly anticipated return to the Star Wars universe, despite the mixed reception to the sequel trilogy. Fans were excited to learn that she accepted a role in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's upcoming untitled Star Wars film, announced at last month's Star Wars Celebration in London.
The movie takes place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, with Ridley's character, Rey Skywalker, forming her own Jedi Order. However, recent reports suggest that Ridley's role in the project, often referred to as "Episode X," might not be as prominent as initially believed.
Insider Jeff Sneider shared his insights on The Hot Mic podcast, stating that Ridley may not be the lead but instead play a supporting role similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker in the original and sequel trilogies.
Sneider explained, "Yeah, from what I understand, from some of the rumors that have come out here, Daisy won't necessarily be the lead, she'll be like the Luke or the Obi-Wan of the situation as she rebuilds the new Jedi Order..."
As the film's plot revolves around Jedi Master Rey establishing a new Jedi Order, the introduction of new lead characters alongside Ridley's Rey is a distinct possibility. Notably, Damon Lindelof's original script included two new Jedi characters, and it appears that Lucasfilm might continue with that plan despite Lindelof's departure from the project.
It is worth considering that Rey's journey is far from over, and it makes sense for her to take on a lead role in the film as her story continues to unfold.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's untitled Star Wars film is expected to hit theaters in 2025.
