'Days of Our Lives' Star Deidre Hall Bids Farewell after 45 Years
After a remarkable 45-year stint as the beloved character Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives, soap opera icon Deidre Hall is reportedly preparing to leave the show and her sizable $720,000 salary behind. The age-defying 75-year-old actress believes the time is right for her departure, according to insiders.
"Deidre's ready to say goodbye to the show she's called home for more than half of her life," reveals a source close to the actress. "She knows this will disappoint fans, but there are things she's put off that she'd like to do, like painting, traveling, photography, and even other acting projects."
Hall has portrayed Marlena since 1976, captivating audiences with her character's various trials and tribulations. In a recent episode, Marlena died from poisoning, only to find herself in heaven. However, she was brought back to life in the April 5 episode, where she shared a passionate bath scene with John Black, played by Drake Hogestyn.
The insider suggests that Hall believes Marlena's storyline has run its course, having experienced everything from death and resurrection to satanic possessions and scandals. While the actress doesn't want to part on bad terms, she is willing to make guest appearances for special occasions.
"Some people may think she's spoiled, given that she makes $60,000 a month, but for Deidre, money isn't everything," says the source.
