Camilla Reignites Feud by Inviting Alleged William's Ex-Mistress to Coronation
In a controversial move, Camilla, the new queen, has reportedly invited Rose Hanbury, Prince William's rumored former mistress, to King Charles' May 6 coronation, leaving Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, devastated, according to palace insiders.
Sources say Camilla's decision to invite Hanbury was a calculated move to reopen old wounds in Kate's marriage after a heated dispute between the two women, per Globe. Prince William had reportedly taken issue with Camilla's plans to give her grown children official roles in the royal ceremony, leaving out more deserving titled dukes and duchesses.
"Camilla went for the jugular in her power struggle with Kate," reveals a courtier. "She demanded Rose Hanbury be invited to the coronation!"
Camilla allegedly also insisted that Hanbury's son Oliver be one of King Charles' pages, alongside Kate's son Prince George.
"Putting Rose front and center on the guest list was like plunging a dagger into poor Kate's heart and twisting it. I'm told Kate collapsed in a flood of tears when she learned she'd be facing the beauty branded the other woman in her husband's life on the royals' biggest day!" says the courtier.
Rose Hanbury, married to David, Marquess of Cholmondeley, found herself in the midst of rumors of a torrid affair with Prince William in 2019, following a falling out between the two families who were country neighbors.
"It's stunning Camilla would reopen those heartbreaking old wounds just to get revenge," the courtier adds.
Sources claim Camilla's maneuver is not only a retaliation against Kate but also against William, who objected to her plans to involve her grown children in the historic coronation.
"Camilla's lifelong dream of becoming queen has gone to her head," shares a well-placed palace insider. "She's been throwing her weight around, showing everyone who's boss and making everyone bow down to her — and that has infuriated Kate."
The tension between Camilla and Kate threatens the monarchy Charles has spent 70 years waiting to inherit, insiders say.
"If Camilla will stoop to using a denied affair to inflict such personal agony on Kate, you can be sure she has many other cruelties waiting up her royal sleeve," warns the courtier.
