Katy Perry, the 38-year-old pop sensation, is set to enjoy a royal stay at Windsor Castle while in the UK for her performance at King Charles III's Coronation Concert in May. The singer expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity during an interview with Extra, stating, "I'm really excited. I might be posting a lot because I'm gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild."

Perry discussed the "very regal" invitation to perform at the May 7 event, describing it as "like a cursive" she had never seen before. Honored to perform for His Majesty and Queen Consort Camilla, she also highlighted her role as an ambassador for one of King Charles III's foundations, the British Asian Trust, which focuses on ending child trafficking.

In a separate interview with Access Hollywood, Perry expressed gratitude for the chance to perform and support the royal couple through her music. She plans to represent herself as an ambassador at the Coronation Concert and "just bring the light and the love."

Perry's involvement with the British Asian Trust's Children's Protection Fund was also mentioned when the BBC announced her participation in the concert lineup on April 14. She hopes to help "shine a further light" on the charity's work to find solutions to child trafficking.

Joining Perry at the concert will be fellow "American Idol" judge Lionel Richie, a longtime friend of His Majesty. Richie served as the first Global Ambassador and Chairman of the Global Ambassador Group in 2019 for The Prince's Trust, while Perry became an ambassador for The British Asian Trust in 2020.

While Perry received a formal invitation to perform, Richie revealed that King Charles III personally called to request his participation. Both stars are keeping their performance set lists a secret, with Richie citing "royal secrecy."

Other artists slated to perform at the Coronation Concert include British pop group Take That, opera star Andrea Bocelli, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, classical-soul composer/pianist Alexis Ffrench, and singer/songwriter Freya Ridings. The event will be broadcast live from Windsor Castle, and is expected to draw 20,000 public attendees and invited guests, as well as millions watching and listening on BBC platforms.

The concert will take place the day after King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla's crowning ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
