Donald Trump Jr. Expresses Discontent Over Tucker Carlson's Fox News Exit: 'A Once in a Generation Talent'
Donald Trump Jr. has expressed his displeasure over Tucker Carlson's departure from Fox News, stating that he believes it will change things permanently. Following the announcement on April 24, Trump Jr. took to Twitter, posting, "Confirmed: Tucker Carlson out at Fox News. OMG."
During an appearance on The Kirk Charlie Show, Trump Jr. elaborated on his reaction, saying, "I think it changes things permanently. That's one of the few voices in the Republican party that would call out the nonsense. An actual thought leader in conservatism. It's actually mind-blowing to me."
He continued, "I hope whatever he does, he continues to be that voice for conservatism because he's one of the few people pushing those boundaries. One of the few people actually speaking to Independents and across the aisle and winning them over with facts, logic, and reason. I think he's probably a once-in-a-generation type talent. To see him go is mind-boggling."
Kirk pointed out that Fox has lost $1 billion in market cap and suggested that Carlson would be a great fit on Rumble, the same platform where Trump Jr. airs his show. Trump Jr. agreed, stating that he would love to see Carlson "speak his mind with even fewer restraints."
On April 24, Fox News released a statement announcing Carlson's departure: "FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor."
There was no special sendoff for the controversial TV personality; his last episode aired on Friday, April 21. Unaware it would be his final appearance, Carlson signed off by telling viewers he would see them the following Monday.
For now, Carlson's 8 p.m. time slot will be filled by FOX News Tonight, featuring rotating guest hosts.
April 24 also saw another shakeup in the broadcasting world, as CNN announced the departure of Don Lemon after 17 years with the network.
