Cheryl Hines Faces Backlash for Supporting Husband RFK Jr.'s Presidential Bid Amid Anti-Vaxx Controversy
Cheryl Hines has been criticized for endorsing her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential campaign, as detractors highlight his contentious anti-vaxxer stance and comments on COVID-19 mandates.
RadarOnline.com reports that the Curb Your Enthusiasm actress has faced a torrent of criticism following RFK Jr.'s announcement of his presidential aspirations.
One commenter wrote, "I didn't know that Cheryl Hines was married to Robert Kennedy Jr. an anti-vaxxer and true whacked out wannabe. Wish Cheryl would 'curb her enthusiasm' for her hubby." Another said, "I have lost all respect for Cheryl Hines."
A third user chimed in, "@CherylHines you do realize that you don't have to co-sign your spouse's crazy conspiracy theories, don't you?" while a fourth expressed disappointment and tagged the star.
However, Hines also received support from individuals who were optimistic about her potential role as the First Lady if RFK Jr. were to secure the nomination. One person tweeted, "Future First Lady Madam Hines!"
While the A Bad Moms Christmas actress and her husband have not always agreed, she publicly condemned RFK Jr.'s Anne Frank comments made during a rally against COVID-19 mandates, in which he compared vaccine requirements to Nazi Germany.
Hines responded on Twitter, saying, "My husband's reference to Anne Frank at a mandate rally in D.C. was reprehensible and insensitive." She continued, "The atrocities that millions endured during the Holocaust should never be compared to anyone or anything. His opinions are not a reflection of my own."
According to the report, a source revealed that the incident created a rift between the couple. The insider stated that Hines was "so upset and angry by what Robert said, she felt there was simply no choice" but to address his comments on Twitter.
Nonetheless, Hines has expressed full support for her husband's pursuit of the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination, describing RFK Jr. as a "fearless leader who understands the needs of the American people and has devoted his life fighting for democracy."
