Prince William and Kate Middleton Prepared to "Tolerate" Prince Harry's Attendance at Coronation, but Not Meghan's: Royal Analyst
While Prince William and Kate Middleton might still be open to welcoming Prince Harry during his upcoming return to the UK, despite the recent controversies surrounding his book and interviews, they may not feel the same way about Meghan Markle, according to a royal expert.
Buckingham Palace announced last week that the Duke of Sussex will be present at King Charles III's coronation in London next month. However, Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will stay in California.
Royal correspondent Kinsey Schofield believes that Prince William and Kate Middleton would be willing to accept Prince Harry's presence, but not Meghan's. She told Fox News Digital, "Both William and [his wife] Catherine will tolerate Harry's presence because, despite the bad blood and betrayal, there is a deep love for him in both of them. The same could not be said for Meghan. I think William and Catherine would have had a much harder time navigating Meghan's presence."
Schofield, the host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, also predicts that there will be no warm interactions between Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry during the event. She said, "We know that palace staff is planning every entry, exit, and seat with the battling brothers in mind. The palace's ultimate objective is to avoid conflict."
According to Schofield, Prince William was the most affected by Prince Harry's actions, including the Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan" and the memoir "Spare." She stated that the brothers have not spoken since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral and claimed no apology has occurred in private.
In a January interview with The Telegraph, Prince Harry expressed his willingness to forgive his father King Charles and brother Prince William if they would engage in a "proper conversation" with him. He also said he wants his family to take "some accountability" for their strained relationship and offer "an apology to [his] wife."
Robert Jobson, a British journalist and author of "Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed," suggested that Prince William should "build bridges" with Prince Harry at the coronation if their father wishes to reconcile with his younger son. Jobson said on GB News, "It's clear that William is not very happy about it. But at the end of the day, he is sworn to the King, and if the King wants it, he should just get on with it. Make the King's life as easy as possible."
