Jamie Foxx's Health Improving After Sudden Medical Emergency
Jamie Foxx is reportedly on the road to recovery after experiencing an undisclosed "medical complication." His daughter, Corinne Foxx, broke the news of her father's health scare on Tuesday, April 11.
The 55-year-old actor was in the middle of filming his latest project, "Back in Action," which also marks Cameron Diaz's return to the big screen. Foxx's health issue has temporarily halted production on the movie.
A source told People that Foxx is "steadily improving." Corinne shared an official statement on Instagram, providing an update on her father's condition. The statement read, "We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time."
No further details about Foxx's medical emergency have been revealed, and the actor's representative has not responded to requests for comment.
Before the health scare, Foxx was spotted filming "Back in Action." People reported that production was shut down on Wednesday, April 12, but resumed the following day with a stand-in for Foxx on set. A casting director informed the film's extras via email that a scene scheduled for Sunday, April 16, had been canceled due to "changes in production." Filming on Monday, April 17, and Tuesday, April 18, was expected to continue as planned.
"Back in Action" marks Diaz's first film appearance since the 2014 "Annie" remake, in which Foxx also starred. The pair were seen filming scenes for the movie in London and later in Atlanta with Glenn Close. A source told People that Foxx played a significant role in persuading Diaz to return to acting.
Foxx told Entertainment Tonight that he convinced the "Charlie's Angels" star to "come out of retirement" for the Netflix film by promising her that they would enjoy the experience. "It was literally, 'Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!' And I think that's what brought her to it," he said.
