Donald Trump Jr. Advocates Ending Bud Light Boycott, Cites Company's Conservative Support
Donald Trump Jr. has called for an end to the Bud Light boycott, stating on Rumble that the company's conservative affiliations are strong and the backlash over its collaboration with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney is unwarranted.
Bud Light and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, have faced considerable controversy from a significant portion of their customer base following their use of Mulvaney in marketing efforts.
"We examined Anheuser-Busch's political contributions and lobbying history. And guess what? They actually back Republicans," the former first son shared on Rumble. "During the last cycle, their employees and PAC contributed roughly 60 percent to Republicans and 40 percent to Democrats. In corporate America, where it's common to adopt woke stances and where being conservative carries consequences, a 60/40 split favoring conservatives is quite significant."
Trump Jr. stated that no one at the company's senior level had been aware of the marketing campaign, and highlighted their support for prominent GOP candidates like Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
"Anheuser-Busch made a major misstep with this Dylan Mulvaney situation. However, I'm not in favor of dismantling an iconic American company over this," he said. "I think we sometimes tend to act first and think later, without considering the details."
Although Mulvaney has become a sought-after brand ambassador for numerous businesses, the influencer's promotion of Bud Light proved too controversial for many conservatives. Following Mulvaney's initial Instagram campaign for the beer, Anheuser-Busch lost billions of dollars in value.
Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO Brendan Whitworth issued a measured apology on Friday, stating, "We never meant to be part of a conversation that divides people." He titled his statement "Our Responsibility To America."
