Last week, Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, raised concerns when she was absent from the annual Easter Mattins service, an event she usually attends with her parents and younger brother James, the newly appointed Earl of Wessex. The 19-year-old royal was noticeably missing from the family's Easter walkabout in Windsor.

HELLO! magazine speculated that the academic-minded teenager might have opted to stay at her university in Scotland during the spring break. As an English Literature student at St. Andrews, Lady Louise is currently preparing for the school's official "Revision Week" and the subsequent rigorous Semester Two exams.

Though the palace has not confirmed the reason for her absence, it is likely that Lady Louise decided to remain at the university to take full advantage of the library resources.

The young royal's first Easter break as a university student was undoubtedly bittersweet. She not only faces a demanding two weeks of first-year examinations but also commemorated the second anniversary of her beloved grandfather Prince Philip's passing without her family by her side.

Prince Philip, who passed away on April 9, 2021, had a close relationship with his granddaughter. Lady Louise shares his love for carriage riding and has continued his legacy by promoting the equestrian-based activity as a recognized sport in Britain.

Last summer, Lady Louise experienced a particularly poignant moment when she led an emotional procession at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, driving her late grandfather's carriage. The event moved the late Queen Elizabeth II to tears as she watched her granddaughter participate in the procession marking the finale of the "Gallop Through History" event. Lady Louise's passion for equestrianism is also inherited from the Queen.

As Lady Louise focuses on her studies and prepares for exams, her Easter break away from her family highlights the sacrifices and challenges she faces as both a university student and a member of the royal family.
