On Monday, Jeremy Renner made his first late-night show appearance since his snowplow accident, walking onto the stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live with the aid of a cane. The 52-year-old Academy Award nominee even danced to the show's music before taking a seat.

Host Jimmy Kimmel humorously declared that any doubts about who the toughest Avenger was had now been put to rest, referring to Renner's role in the Marvel franchise.

The actor proceeded to describe the New Year's Day incident that took place at his property outside Reno, Nevada, when he attempted to jump on a snowplow to prevent it from running over his nephew. "I got eaten up under the tracks," Renner recounted, admitting it was a terrible way to begin the year.

Renner told Kimmel that he had broken around 35 bones. He recalled discovering new fractures as time went on due to the priority of treating critical injuries first. The Hawkeye star compared the snowplow to a "giant metal cookie roller" and expressed gratitude that none of his vital organs were seriously harmed. He mentioned that his eye had popped out and that he had a collapsed lung, but joked that he had another one.

As Renner lay in the hospital during his lengthy recovery, receiving calls from his Marvel co-stars and other actor friends, he realized the severity of his injuries. He humorously told Kimmel that they were "terrible actors" as they couldn't hide their reactions to his condition, which made him think he might not recover.

Following the accident, Renner underwent multiple surgeries and was initially listed in "critical but stable condition." The snowplow, weighing at least 14,330 lbs., had run him over while he was assisting a family member with a stuck vehicle in the snow.

In the three months since the accident, Renner's family, fans, friends, and colleagues, including several Marvel co-stars, have shown their support. Last week, Renner told Diane Sawyer that his The Hurt Locker co-star Anthony Mackie had been by his bedside in Reno during his recovery, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actress Evangeline Lilly had visited him at home.
