Frigid Reception: Prince Harry's London Visit Met with Royal Disregard
As Prince Harry returned to the United Kingdom for the first time since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September, the frosty atmosphere between him and the rest of the royal family was palpable.
On March 27 and 30, the 38-year-old Duke of Sussex appeared in London's High Court for a preliminary hearing in a lawsuit against Associated Newspapers. Prince Harry, along with his wife Meghan Markle, 41, is among several prominent figures alleging "gross violations of privacy" in the case.
Despite the gravity of the legal matter, Prince Harry was met with a chilly reception from his family during his time in London.
According to Life & Style, citing an insider, not only were King Charles III and Camilla unavailable, but Prince William and Princess Kate actively avoided meeting with him."In fairness, Kate and William may not have been aware that Harry was coming, but they didn't hang around for long after hearing he had landed at Heathrow Airport. They drove to the countryside with their three children for the Easter holidays."
The strained relationship between Prince Harry and Prince William, 40, has been further exacerbated by the former's critical interviews and revealing memoir, Spare. With the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's attendance at Charles' coronation in May still up in the air, the tension shows no signs of dissipating.
The insider reveals that William has issued a stern warning: "If Harry stirs up trouble at the coronation, he'll be out of the family for good." Meanwhile, Kate, 41, is more understanding, "but, like William, she does not trust Harry and is wary of his agenda."
The once-close bond between the two princes now seems to be hanging by a thread. As the insider states, "after everything that's happened, it'll take a miracle to fix things."
