Fox News in Crisis: Scandals Drive Away Staff and New Hires
Fox News is reportedly grappling with a staffing crisis as insiders claim the network is struggling to retain employees and attract new talent amid a series of scandals that have shaken its foundations.
According to the tabloid National Enquirer, citing sources, even securing summer interns has become a challenge for the beleaguered news organization.
Years of sex scandals, payoffs, and a massive $1.6 billion lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems have contributed to the network's woes. Dominion accuses top Fox News personalities of spreading baseless allegations that the company assisted in stealing the 2020 presidential election in favor of Joe Biden. A Fox News writer told The National ENQUIRER, "Everyone is desperate to get out of this place. They think they need to leave to save their careers!"
The network's reputation took another hit when former senior producer Abby Grossberg, who worked for contentious hosts Tucker Carlson and Maria Bartiromo, filed a lawsuit claiming her bosses scripted her testimony in the Dominion case to shield the network. Grossberg also alleged she experienced "sexism and harassment" in the workplace. Fox News terminated Grossberg's employment just four days after she filed the suit, raising further questions.
Network stars Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, and Bartiromo have also been implicated in controversial texts that reveal they did not believe the 2020 election was stolen, despite promoting that narrative to their viewers.
A source said, "The execs are more afraid of [Grossberg's] claims because they're coming from inside the network. They think she can be more damaging than Dominion!"
Fox News contends that the Dominion lawsuit infringes upon constitutional protections for a free press, and asserts that Grossberg's termination was due to her breach of corporate policy on confidential information. However, insiders argue that the network's numerous issues have severely tarnished its credibility and deterred potential journalists from joining the organization. One insider noted, "No one wants to work at Fox with this dark cloud hanging over the network. They're even having trouble finding summer interns!"
