King Charles Too Occupied to Meet Prince Harry Who Attempted to Meet Father During UK Trip
Prince Harry was unable to meet with his father, King Charles III, during his recent visit to the UK due to the monarch's busy schedule. King Charles was reportedly preparing for his trip to Germany with his wife, Camilla, Queen Consort, as Prince Harry returned to the UK to attend a court trial regarding his phone hacking lawsuit against several British publications.
According to royal expert Alexander Larman, speaking with Us Weekly, the Duke of Sussex attempted to arrange a meeting with his father, but King Charles was preoccupied. During his brief visit, Prince Harry stayed at Frogmore Cottage, despite being asked to leave by his father in March.
Just two days after Prince Harry's arrival in the UK, King Charles and Camilla embarked on their first international trip as Britain's new King and Queen.
Despite the missed opportunity for a meeting, there is still hope for reconciliation at the upcoming coronation on May 6, as reported by Page Six. However, the Sussexes have not yet confirmed their attendance at the historic event.
Larman stated that he would be surprised if they did not attend, explaining, "If he [doesn't] go to the coronation, he's essentially saying, 'I am not gonna have any relationship with my family ever again.'"
Royal public relations expert Edward Coram-James told GB News that the Sussexes' absence could have significant repercussions, potentially prolonging the conflict in the long term. He emphasized that their absence would likely attract significant media attention, with the "shadow of their absence" looming over the ceremony.
However, a source informed Entertainment Tonight that the royal family also worries that Prince Harry and Meghan's presence could overshadow King Charles' coronation and shift focus away from the monarch.
"The big concern is the chaos that could overshadow the coronation if they attend," the insider stated, adding that "no one wants to see the focus taken away from King Charles with the press focused on Harry and Meghan and past family squabbles."
The royal family fears that more private matters may become public if the Sussexes attend, and they are working to prevent that.
