Body Language Expert: Prince Harry Hinted at Family Struggles in 2017 Interview
In a 2017 interview, Prince Harry may have offered clues about his family rifts, according to body language expert Judi James. Shortly after their engagement was announced in November 2017, Harry and Meghan took part in their first TV interview, where they discussed their relationship and Harry's family's reactions.
James told Express.co.uk that the Duke of Sussex seemed to provide hints of issues with his father and brother during the interview. "When Charles and William are brought up though, there was a long, telling and unnecessary pause with some complex non-verbal cues that suggest all was not well behind the scenes," James said.
The body language expert also noted that Harry and Meghan displayed very different signals when discussing the late Queen Elizabeth II. "When the late Queen was mentioned previously in the interview, Harry and Meghan’s responses were instant, enthusiastic, and warm," she said.
James elaborated on how Harry reacted with his body language after being asked about his father and brother. "He then looks to his side as though recalling the moment, and his lips clamp rather than move in speech," she explained. "The ‘Ah...’ from Harry sounds telling, as though he is debating whether to tell all or not. He performs an asymmetric smile that suggests he could say more."
Meghan's body language during the interview was similarly revealing, according to James. "Meghan did a nervous giggle, and Harry raised his brows. Harry even partly repeated the question, which, along with the pause, was a classic stalling for time," she said.
James also pointed out that Prince Harry's awkwardness was made more apparent by his delayed response.
