Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's potential absence at the King's coronation could cause "irreparable damage" to the royal family, according to a royal expert. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have been invited to the May 6 event, have not yet confirmed whether they will travel from their Montecito, California residence to London.

The couple may face a frosty reception from senior royal family members if they choose to attend, as per recent reports. However, royal PR expert Edward Coram-James cautioned that if the Sussexes decide not to attend the historic event, which coincides with Prince Archie's 4th birthday, it may create an unbridgeable divide within the Firm.

Coram-James told GB News that the Sussexes' absence might be the "fatal, irreversible blow" to both public perception and the royal family itself, potentially prolonging the conflict in the long run. He also noted that their decision to skip the event would likely generate more media attention, further fueling the existing rift and allegations against the royal family.

"The shadow of their absence would loom large over the entire ceremony, risking becoming the elephant in the room and an unwanted sideshow," Coram-James added.

It has been reported that the couple has made a list of requests for the coronation day, including recognition of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, during the event.

According to a source close to the palace who spoke to OK! Magazine, the couple's primary concern is their children's roles in the festivities. It is believed that Archie and Lilibet have not been invited to the coronation, which may have upset the Sussexes.

The couple is also reportedly seeking inclusion on the Buckingham Palace balcony on the day of the coronation, a tradition typically reserved for working members of the royal family.
