Ben Affleck Addresses Viral Grammy Moment With Jennifer Lopez: ‘I Had A Good Time’
Ben Affleck is revealing what happened at the 2023 Grammy Awards that led to his viral moment with Jennifer Lopez.
Citing a recent interview the 50-year-old actor had with The Hollywood Reporter, Page Six reported that he denies having a bad time at the awards show, which occurred earlier in February.
Affleck is said to have explained in the exchange that it all began when he “saw [Grammy host Trevor Noah approach] and I was like, ‘Oh, God,’” before noting, “They were framing us in this shot, but I didn’t know they were rolling.”
The “Argo” actor continued that he told Lopez, who was beside him at the event, “As soon they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor,” as per the outlet.
He is said to have subsequently added, though, that the “On The Floor” singer responded to him: “She goes, ‘You better f-king not leave,’” before asserting in the same exchange, “That’s a husband-and-wife thing. I mean, some of it is, I’m like, ‘All right, who is this act?’”
Ben Affleck went viral, causing memes to emerge across media platforms, following his attendance with Jennifer Lopez at the 2023 Grammys in February.
At the time, Page Six noted that the DCEU actor’s facial expressions that night seemingly suggested he would rather be anywhere but the Crypto.com Arena, where the awards show was held.
As explained, Affleck became a viral sensation because he appeared “miserable” amid the event, with the outlet adding then that many netizens roasted him for it.
The “Gone Girl” actor maintained his silence regarding the matter. But, Lopez appeared to have addressed the reports, telling her fans and followers that had “the best time” with her husband at this year’s Grammys.
Following the viral moment, the “Marry Me” actress took to Instagram a clip, showing her and Ben Affleck’s time together at the awards show.
Lopez wrote in the caption, “Always the best time with my love, my husband,” and included a white heart emoji.
Similarly, the “Justice League” actor told The Hollywood Reporter elsewhere in the exchange, published Thursday, that he “had a good time at the Grammys,” before saying, “My wife was going, and I thought, ‘Well, there’ll be good music. It might be fun.’”
After addressing the matter, though, Affleck shared with the outlet that he has “gone to award shows and been drunk, a bunch. Nobody ever once said I’m drunk. [But at the Grammys] they were like, ‘He’s drunk,’” - a thought he said he deemed “interesting.”
The “Accountant” actor explained that it “raises a whole other thing about whether or not it’s wise to acknowledge addiction because there’s a lot of comparison, but there is still a tremendous stigma, which is often quite inhibiting.”
He added, “I do think it disincentivizes people from making their lives better.”
