Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may now be in Canada, but they still used their Duke and Duchess of Sussex Instagram account to remind people to wash their hands amid the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of having people appreciate them for caring and reminding, they got blasted.

Weeks and even months into the pandemic (as in China and in Italy), people now know the value of washing their hands and being hygienic. While being clean does not guarantee any infection, it can stop the spread of coronavirus. This is why it has been the World Health Organization’s consistent advice ever since the outbreak started.

Fans are wondering though where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had been all this time, Page Six reported.

This is because it is only now that they shared these tips on their Instagram account by reposting the advice from WHO.

They did put a disclaimer status though, which read “you may have seen or heard these before, but they are as important today as ever.”

Still, some commenters cannot help but blast them for being such “latecomers.” They claimed the two are so behind the curve, while some also mocked them for “trying to stay relevant” now that they already stepped down from their senior roles in the palace.

All these transpired before Prince Harry found out his own father, Prince Charles has tested positive for the virus. It is unclear where he could possibly contract it from, but given all the social gatherings and events he attended for the past months, the diagnosis is also not that surprising.

The Queen, fortunately, who is presently at Balmoral Palace doing her self-quarantine, remains to be in good health.

Prince Harry reportedly found out the fate of his father through the phone only. However, he and his brother, Prince William were assured by their father that they have nothing to fear as he is in good condition, notwithstanding the circumstances.

Some news outlets have reported that this diagnosis had the fortunate effect of bringing the brothers together once more, after several months of feuding.

Conversely, though, Prince William’s speech about the virus earlier last week is in sharp contrast to Harry’s advice about hand-washing. According to him, everyone has a role to play in fighting this virus and that is to be cooperative and honest.

“All of us have a part to play if we’re going to protect the most vulnerable,” William said in a statement. “That means acting on the latest expert advice, staying home if we or those we live with have symptoms, and avoiding non-essential contact to help reduce the spread of the virus.”
