Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi just renewed their vows in front of their close friends and select family members.

But according to New Idea, DeGeneres had no idea that such an event was about to take place. After all, she planned a surprise party for de Rossi to celebrate the actress’s 50th birthday.

But little did the comedian know, de Rossi planned for the two of them to renew their vows in front of some of the most important people in their lives.

“Not much gets past Ellen, especially when it comes to things in her own household. She thought she was doing something amazing for Portia, planning a party with all their favorite friends, old and new. So, it’s no wonder she was absolutely floored when Portia turned the tables on Ellen at her own birthday party,” the source said.

The source added that when de Rossi asked Kris Jenner to officiate their renewal of vows ceremony, the famous momager immediately said yes. After all, she has been friends with DeGeneres for decades.

“There is only one person in the world who could have helped Portia outsmart Ellen with something like this, and it’s Kris Jenner. They’ve been cooking up this plan for months. Ellen is so touched Portia went to all that effort,” the source said.

DeGeneres and de Rossi’s renewal of vows ceremony was also attended by some of the couple’s other A-list friends like Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Courtney Cox, and Jennifer Aniston.

According to the source, even Prince Harry, who is not technically a celebrity, had a blast at the couple’s wedding vows renewal ceremony.

While it is true that DeGeneres and de Rossi just exchanged their "I do’s" again, it’s unclear who planned what for who. After all, the A-list couple is both known for going all-out when it comes to celebrations and occasions.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that DeGeneres and de Rossi are still happily married after all these years and despite all the rumors that their marriage is falling apart.
