Meghan Markle allegedly decided to go MIA for fear that she would steal the spotlight away from Prince Harry.

Star, in its Feb. 13 issue, claimed that Markle agreed to take a step back while Prince Harry was promoting Spare following the advice of her PR team.

“Meghan tends to steal the spotlight when they’re together. No one believes Meghan’s absence is a coincidence. They don’t do anything without consulting their PR machine,” the source said.

But Markle’s absence doesn’t mean that she and Prince Harry are having issues in their marriage. In fact, the Duke of Sussex is still doing his part in supporting Markle in all her endeavors.

The former royal couple also allegedly wants to be seen by the public as a normal couple just like their neighbors in Montecito.

“They want to be seen as this normal California couple who are just like us. They may have come from different worlds but they walk around the house barefoot, laugh, and are silly,” the source said.

But Prince Harry for his part also wants to be treated with respect and he wants to be taken seriously.

“Harry wants to come across as self-confident and self-motivated and not merely controlled by his wife, as some have accused them of. It was agreed that Meghan would only be a distraction if she were constantly by his side during the press tour. There’s some suggestion that the duchess had concerns over the reaction to some of the more inflammatory passages in the book and wanted to avoid negative publicity toward herself,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. It’s not true that Markle purposely went MIA while Prince Harry was promoting his memoir.

Since the Duchess of Sussex did not have any public engagements, there was no reason for royal fans to see her out and about.

Ever since she quit her royal duties, Markle has been spending most of her time at home with her two children and husband. Every now and then, she attends engagements and speaks in front of crowds.

Since Prince Harry was busy promoting Spare, it was only right for Markle to stay at home so that someone can take care of Archie and Lilibet while their dad was away.
