Katie Holmes relocated to New York City with her daughter Suri in a fierce move of independence after her divorce with Tom Cruise got finalized. The doting mother speaks about her daughter and her experiences of motherhood.

The mother of one began a fresh life after her marriage to the Hollywood hunk ended. She had to raise a 6-year-old girl and was consistently followed by the paparazzi to add to her problems then.

In a candid interview given to the InStyle magazine this year, the actress shared some interesting tidbits about her teenage daughter Suri and how her life in NYC has been. The interview was a bit unusual as Holmes typically likes to focus on herself during most of her interviews. 

However, this time it was slightly different as she also spoke about her young girl’s personality. Lauren Brown, who is the editor-in-chief of InStyle told the actress how impressed she was to notice the openness of the young girl when she met her. 

The dotting mom revealed how much she loves her daughter. Katie Holmes further said nurturing her daughter’s individuality has been the biggest goal in her life. She wanted to ensure that Suri is “strong, confident, and able” and is one hundred percent herself.

The Batman Begins star added how strong her daughter has come out and mentioned Suri always had a powerful personality. Holmes said her daughter chooses an activity and gives her best until she excels in it. The actress was full of praises for the teenager and called her a “hard worker” and “focused.” 

The actress shared that the media kept following them when her daughter was little. So, she would take the little one out to parks at 6 am so that no one would find them. 

There is one clip though where Holmes is seen holding her when she was only 2-year-old. The little girl started waving at the cameras when the paparazzi started clicking their pictures. 

The First Daughter star also confessed that the year following her divorce from Cruise was “intense” for her, Business Insider reports. However, she made lots of new friends during the same period. Cruise and Holmes got married in 2006 but got divorced six years later. 

The 41-year-old gorgeous actress has her hands full. She is acting in the drama titled The Secret: Dare to Dream, as well as, is all set to direct her second movie Rare Objects.

Katie Holmes often refers to Suri as “my child” and dotes on her. The actress says her 14-year-old daughter is curious, strong-willed, and tall.
