Jennifer Lopez Announces New Album ‘This Is Me…Now’ Two Decades After ‘This Is Me…Then’ Release
Jennifer Lopez is giving her fans a treat on the 20th anniversary of her third studio album, “This Is Me…Then.”
On Friday, the 53-year-old songstress made an announcement on Instagram informing her fans and followers of her new and upcoming album, “This Is Me…Now.” She included a short clip on the post, seemingly serving as a teaser for the material.
The video features Lopez recreating the cover of her 2002 album before transforming into her 2022 self. It also sees her saying, “This is me then, this is me now.”
The “Marry Me” actress wrote “This Is Me…Now” in the caption alongside the new album's tracklist.
People shared in a report published hours after the announcement that some of the tracks on the album allude to Jennifer Lopez’s relationship with Ben Affleck, with whom she tied the knot in July 2022. These include tracks 7 and 12, which carry the titles “Dear Ben pt. II” and “Midnight Trip To Vegas," respectively.
A press release for the “On The Floor” singer’s new album said it “chronicles the emotional, spiritual and psychological journey that she has taken over the past two decades,” as per the magazine.
The outlet continued that the release also noted how Lopez’s ninth studio album would showcase “a vulnerability never” shown before. Moreover, the material is said to be "a philosophy, a reflection, a zeitgeist moment,” as well, adding that “it’s about hope, faith and true love never dying.”
Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight stated that “This Is Me…Now” is indeed a full-circle moment.
In its report published Friday, the publication recalled that Jennifer Lopez was dating Ben Affleck during the production of her third studio album, “This Is Me…Then.” It also noted that she dedicated the material to him upon its release on November 25, 2002.
Some of the hits from the album include “All I Have,” “Jenny From The Block,” “I’m Glad,” and “Baby I Love U.” The two latter tracks are said to have been inspired by the songstress’s relationship with the “Argo” actor at the time, as per the outlet.
Us Weekly shares in a report that Ben Affleck first proposed to Jennifer Lopez in November 2002, adding that he proposed to her with a 6-carat pink diamond ring. This comes months after the two personalities met on the set of their first film together, “Gigli.”
The publication continues that the “Selena” actress and the “Accountant” star called off the wedding, however, days before they were set to wed in September 2003, citing “excessive media attention” as the reason behind the move.
While Affleck and Lopez remained together in the following months after calling off their wedding, they announced their breakup in January 2004.
