James Corden ‘Apologized Profusely’ Following Ban And Callout, NYC Restaurant Owner Reveals
Keith McNally, the owner of the NYC restaurant Balthazar, updated netizens on Instagram that James Corden called him to apologize. It came after he called the comedian out on the platform and banned him from his iconic eatery.
Later on Monday, the NYC restaurateur shared that the 44-year-old celebrity “apologized profusely” to him in a call. He also revealed in the same post that he has forgiven him and rescinded the ban he had placed earlier that day.
Page Six, in its report covering the social media update, quoted McNally from the post, writing, “James Corden just called me and apologized profusely. Having f***ed up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances.”
It continues, “...anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat layabout life me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar.”
Elsewhere in the post, Keith McNally appears to have urged the comedian to “Come Back to the 5 & Dime,” adding that “all is forgiven.”
A few hours earlier, the owner of Balthazar told followers on Instagram that he “86’d” James Corden. He explained that the decision was due to the celebrity’s treatment of his staff and conduct in his restaurant.
Keith McNally also slammed the “Late Late Show” host in his post, calling him a “tiny Cretin of a man.” He even deemed the comedian “the most abusive customer” to his staff.
People, in its report published Monday, quoted the restaurateur’s caption, writing, “James Corden is a hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.”
It continues, “I don’t often 86 a customer, to today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh.”
The magazine said a rep for the comedian did not immediately respond to its request for comment.
McNally shared two examples of Corden’s behavior, which he referred to as the “funny man’s treatment of my staff," in the same post.
The Balthazar owner recalls how in June, the “Cats” actor became “extremely nasty” to a manager after finding a hair in his food, despite the manager being “very apologetic.”
Keith McNally notes, “although this is diabolical, it happens very occasionally in all restaurants.”
The second account allegedly happened earlier in October, with the owner sharing that the "Late Late Show" host was with his wife, whom he said ordered an egg yolk omelet with gruyere cheese and salad.
But, after receiving the order, the comedian allegedly called the server to inform them that “there was a little bit of egg white mixed with the egg yolk.” Although the kitchen remade the dish, the owner says it got sent with fries instead of salad.
McNally continues, “That's when James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server: ‘You can't do your job! You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself.’”
