Robbie Coltrane Death: Rupert Grint Pens Tribute To ‘Giant Hearted’ Co-Star
Heartwarming tributes for Robbie Coltrane continue to shower across media platforms. Some of which came from his “Harry Potter” co-stars, with Ruper Grint being one of the latest to share his on Instagram.
On Saturday, the 34-year-old actor took his thoughts to the social media platform and posted a photo of his late co-star using his official account. He shared in a lengthy caption that he is “heartbroken” about the sad news, although he had nothing but good words for the celebrity.
MailOnline, in its report covering the social media update, quoted Grint’s caption, writing, “Heartbroken to hear that Robbie is gone. I’ll never forget the smell of cigars and beard glue - a wonderful combination.”
It continues, “No one else on this planet could of played Hagrid, only Robbie.”
The “Wild Target” actor continued in his post that Robbie Coltrane was “warm, compassionate, and hilarious,” noting that he was “just as Hagrid was in the books and films.”
Ruper Grint also referred to the late actor as a “giant hearted man” in the caption, adding that he still looked out for them “even decades later.”
The “Harry Potter” actor, who played Ronald Weasley, ended his post by “sending love” to Coltrane’s family and stated, “See you on the other side, Bobser.”
The heartfelt tribute, which first surfaced on Saturday, has since amassed more than 1 million likes. It has also obtained over 6,900 comments, with some netizens sharing multiple heart emojis.
Robbie Coltrane’s agent, Scott Henderson, said the actor passed away on Friday, according to CNN.
The “Cracker” star’s U.K. agent, Belinda Wright, meanwhile, shared that he is survived by his children and their mother and his sister, as per the publication.
With regard to the cause of Coltrane’s passing, CNN noted that no details were immediately provided. He was 72.
Deadline shared, though, that the “Harry Potter” actor, who played Rubeus Hagrid, died at a hospital near his home in Scotland.
It also noted in its report, published Friday, that the late celebrity had been ill for the past two years.
