‘The Voice’ Producers Want To Replace Blake Shelton With A Much Younger Singer Like Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello Even Before He Announced His Exit
Blake Shelton just announced his decision to exit The Voice after several seasons. But according to reports, the singer must have decided to move on after hearing rumors that he will be replaced anyway.
According to Radar Online, The Voice execs have been having conversations regarding the future of the singing reality TV competition. After premiering in 2011, the execs believe that now is the time to rehash the cast to attract younger audiences.
This is the reason why they asked Ariana Grande to coach The Voice last season. And after her exit, they tapped Camila Cabello to take her place.
“After a decade on the show, producers are quietly looking to replace Blake with someone younger and more current. Blake is great but he is not in Ariana’s league. It is time for a shake-up. The only way the show remains fresh is by constantly evolving,” the source said.
The insider suggested that even if Shelton did not announce his exit from The Voice, he would’ve still left after the current season because the execs believe now is the time to say goodbye to him.
In his statement, Shelton proved that there’s no bad blood between him and the creators of The Voice because he said that he’s grateful for the opportunity. But he also admitted that it has been hard to film live shows twice a week for several years.
As of late, it’s unclear what Shelton would do next after leaving The Voice. Since he’s one of the top country musicians in the world, he will most likely go on tour across the globe.
But other than this, no one knows if Shelton has plans to appear in another TV show or even a singing reality TV show that could go head-to-head with The Voice.
His exit also left fans wondering if this also means that his wife, Gwen Stefani will not return to The Voice next season. The No Doubt singer returned to the show this season after a years-long break and she has been a wonderful addition to the cast.
Shelton isn’t also the first long-running host to leave The Voice. Adam Levine also quit the program months ago to focus on his personal life and music career.
