Joe Biden recently reacted to reports that his son, Hunter Biden failed to report his business to the IRS and that he’s still hooked on drugs.

During a recent interview, Biden stressed that he believes his son. The POTUS also said that he’s proud of Hunter because he turned his life around.

Biden admitted that his son had some struggles in the past, which resulted in him taking drugs. But for the president, this is old news and Hunter doesn’t have anything to worry about.

“I’m confident that he is – what he says and does are consistent with what happens. And for example, he wrote a book about his problems and was straightforward about it. I’m proud of him. He came along and said, by the way, this thing about a gun – I didn’t know anything about it,” Biden said (via Radar Online).

Biden also explained what really went down when Hunter tried to buy a gun. He said that his son was asked if he was on drugs or if he uses drugs, and he said no, which wasn’t necessarily a lie.

But the publication previously claimed that Biden was aware that his son illegally purchased a gun because he called him three days later and there was a voicemail recording of the president’s voice.

In the voicemail, Biden told his son that he loves him and urged him to get some help.

According to the BBC, Hunter started drinking and taking drugs when he was just a teenager. Throughout his life, he has also been in and out of rehab.

In 2013, he was discharged from the US Navy Reserves after a drug test revealed that he was positive for cocaine.

But despite all the troubles that he’s been a part of, Biden’s love and support for Hunter never wavered.

However, it has also seemingly reached a point where Hunter abused the love and trust that Biden has given him. He previously recorded himself boasting that Biden would do anything that he asks him to.

“He'll talk about anything that I want him to, that he believes in. If I say it's important to me, then he will work a way in which to make it a part of his platform. My dad respects me more than he respects anyone in the world, and I know that to be certain, so it’s not going to be about whether it affects his politics,” he said (via Washington Examiner).
