Barack Obama, Michelle Obama Mark 30th Wedding Anniversary: ‘Here's To A Lifetime Together’
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have not shied away from making their love known before the public as they celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
On Monday, the Obamas posted sweet tributes to social media. They shared personal photos and touching messages on their respective official Instagram accounts to mark the relationship milestone.
The former U.S. President took three photos to his account, two of which show him and his wife. One features the couple cozying on a beach, while the other is a throwback snap from their wedding three decades ago.
The other picture is a shot of their names written on the sand on the same beach.
Entertainment Tonight, in its report covering the milestone, quoted the former country leader’s caption, writing, “Miche, After 30 years, I’m not sure why you look exactly the same and I don’t. I do know that I won the lottery that day - I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner.”
Barack Obama ended the post with a greeting, saying, “Happy anniversary,” and called his wife, with whom he shares two children, “sweetheart.”
The post, published later on Monday, has obtained more than 2.8 million likes. It has also amassed over 40,100 comments, with fans and followers sharing their greetings and adoration for the couple.
For her part, Michelle Obama also posted three similar photos on her Instagram account.
The first picture shows the two of them on the same beach, while the third features them posing and smiling on their wedding day. The second photo is the same as Barack Obama’s: a picture of their names written on the sand, enclosed by a heart.
In the caption, the former First Lady calls her husband “the man I love.” She says that the “last 30 years have been an adventure,” adding that she is “grateful to have you by my side.”
Michelle Obama ended her post with “Here’s to a lifetime together” before writing, “I love you,” and tagging the former U.S. President’s personal account.
The post has received more than 2.3 million likes and over 33,200 comments.
People said that the “Becoming” author shared the same tribute Monday on her official Twitter account. But, instead of three photos, she only posted two.
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama tied the knot on October 3, 1992, after dating for three years.
The former U.S. President shared a few details about the wedding in his memoir, according to The Knot.
As stated, he recalled tying the knot with the former First Lady at Trinity United Church of Christ, adding that “more than three hundred of our friends, colleagues, and family members crammed happily into the pews.”
