Queen Elizabeth Opened Buckingham Palace For One Individual Amid The Coronavirus Pandemic: Report
Queen Elizabeth agreed to open Buckingham Palace for one British individual amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Express, the monarch granted Prime Minister Boris Johnson permission to go inside the ground of Buckingham Palace for his daily exercise.
The decision was made after the queen realized that Johnson could be at risk if he exercises outdoors. A source told the publication that Johnson took the queen up on her offer, and he has already started exercising on the palace grounds.
In order for the public to not see him, Johnson, reportedly, enters through a secret side entrance.
A source also confirmed the reports that Johnson, who is, reportedly, very fond of jogging, has been exercising there. The insider also told The Telegraph that it is important for Johnson to be able to exercise after he tested positive for COVID-19 last month.
Meanwhile, the queen hasn’t been staying at Buckingham Palace so there’s no chance for her to encounter Johnson when he visits. After all, the monarch is self-isolating at Windsor Castle with Prince Philip.
The other members of the royal family are also isolating in their homes such as Clarence House and Anmer Hall.
In related news, the queen also made headlines this week amid claims that she wants former President Barack Obama to visit the United Kingdom.
The book Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle details the conversation between the monarch and Obama when they met years ago.
A former employee told royal author Tom Quinn that the queen has a soft spot for Americans. And she was, reportedly, so drawn to Obama that she invited him back to the United Kingdom even though he’s no longer president.
According to Insider, while it is common for the queen to host world leaders at Buckingham Palace, it is unusual for her to invite a former leader. After all, there is an expectation that she would be inviting Donald Trump more frequently.
As of late, it is still unclear what the queen’s real thoughts about Obama and Trump are. After all, as a royal, she cannot comment on political figures and politics in general.
But when Trump visited the queen with his wife, Melania Trump, the monarch gave the first couple the same special treatment that she gave to Obama.
As of late, it is still unclear if Obama accepted the queen’s reported invitation to return to the United Kingdom.
