Zendaya’s Mom Reveals Security Stopped Her From Hugging Her Daughter After Actress’s Huge Emmys Win For ‘Euphoria’
Zendaya’s mom, Claire Stoermer recently revealed that security stopped her when she tried to hug her daughter following her huge win at the Emmys.
According to The AV Club, the security had no idea who Stoermer was and when they saw her trying to reach Zendaya, they immediately stopped her. It is possible that the security thought that she was a fan of the actress and didn’t want her to bother Zendaya. But what they didn’t know is that Stoermer is Zendaya’s mom.
“Made my way to Z before they awarded her the Emmy and gave her the biggest hug and said... breathe!!! The man who tried to stop me said ‘where are your credentials?’ I said ‘I’m Zendaya’s mom’ and kept walking!! hahaha! I never name drop like that but I have to do it!” Stoermer said on her Instagram account.
Despite the hiccup, Stoermer still chose to focus on celebrating her daughter’s big win. After all, Zendaya was named the first Black woman to ever win an Emmy for best actress twice.
“I love this group of people. n Z is working on Euphoria, I don’t worry about her! @samlev00 and @ashlevinson thank you!!” Stoermer wrote alongside a photo of the Euphoria cast.
In the hit HBO Go series, Zendaya plays the role of Rue in Euphoria. The series was just renewed for a third season after receiving critical acclaim from viewers and award-giving bodies.
Following her big win, the former child star revealed that the person that she texted to share the happy news with was her boyfriend, Tom Holland. The couple starred in Spider-Man: No Way Home late last year.
“When I get this win, well, I didn’t have to text my mom because my mom was already there. She’s here tonight, which is very special. And I text my boyfriend,” she gushed.
Last year, Zendaya told GQ that she couldn’t quite understand why fans were fascinated with her relationship with Holland.
“The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own… I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other,” she said (via Yahoo! Fans have also been rooting for Zendaya and Holland to end up at the altar. But it seems this is too early for the young couple to even think about.
