Blake Shelton is allegedly treating The Voice alum, Morgan Wallen, as his protégé because of their similarities. However, giving the former contestant special treatment is not sitting well with his wife, Gwen Stefani, and those that know Wallen.

After all, Wallen has been dubbed as a wild child. He was previously involved in a controversy after a video of him spewing racial slurs made headlines. Wallen also accidentally shot himself in the foot. And he also spent some time in a rehab facility.

But a source for National Enquirer claimed that Shelton has decided to look past all Wallen’s mistakes because he’s drawn to him.

“Blake loves this kid so much. He sees a lot of himself in Morgan when he was that age and full of beans. He wants to mentor him,” the source said.

The insider added that Shelton sees Wallen as a diamond in the rough and believes that he just needs someone to guide him. So, the country superstar wants to be that person for Wallen.

“They’ve got roots going back to The Voice when Morgan - who was only 20 years then – knocked everyone’s socks off, including Blake’s. Blake has been quietly coaching Morgan from the sidelines for a while, and they’ve become good buds. Blake’s even talking about including Morgan on a jam session in Oklahoma later this summer so they can write songs together,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. Shelton has never expressed any desire to take Wallen under his wing. So, it’s unclear why the tabloid is claiming that this is the case.

There’s also no indication that Shelton and Wallen are still in contact with each other.

Meanwhile, the country singer also made headlines recently amid claims that his marriage to Stefani is falling apart.

Last month, the same tabloid alleged that Stefani and Shelton’s romance cooled off one year after they tied the knot.

A source claimed that the couple is trying their best to keep their marriage afloat but they cannot deny the fact that they’re struggling.

However, these claims aren’t true either. There’s no indication that Shelton and Stefani are having problems in their marriage.

If anything, the couple seems to be closer than ever. And they will even get to spend more time with each other because Stefani is back on The Voice.
