Michelle Branch Announces Split From Patrick Carney: ‘I Am Totally Devastated’
Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney are separating after three years of marriage.
In an official statement to People, the 39-year-old artist said she is “totally devastated,” and to say that she is “does not even come close to describing how [she] feels for [herself] and for her family.”
The statement continues, “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward.”
Branch later asked for “privacy and kindness,” noting that their family is going through it “with such small children.”
The "Everywhere" singer shares two kids with the Black Keys drummer. They welcomed their youngest six months ago, while their first child together is turning four years old later this month.
No other details were given regarding the split. The magazine also asked a rep for Carney to comment on the matter but “did no immediately respond.”
The split announcement comes a day after Michelle Branch made a shocking post on Twitter, according to Entertainment Tonight.
The “Breathe” singer reportedly accused Patrick Carney of cheating on her over the past several months while she stayed home with their six-month-old baby.
It is said that Branch quickly deleted the post, but “not before seen by many fans.”
Official statements have yet to emerge regarding the cheating accusations.
Patrick Carney and Michelle Branch tied the knot in April 2019. At the time, People confirmed that they held the private ceremony at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans.
A rep for the Black Keys member told the magazine that the two musicians exchanged vows in front of close friends and family. These include their 7-month-old son, and her 13-year-old daughter from her first marriage.
The publication later recalled that Branch appeared to have teased their nuptials on social media days before the ceremony. She had been posting photos of her and her then-fiancé, showing affection toward each other.
Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney first met at a 2015 Grammys party. Us Weekly reported that the two formed a close friendship, with the latter even helping the former produce her album, “Hopeless Romantic.”
Two years later, the “All You Wanted” singer and her daughter reportedly moved into the drummer’s home in Nashville. They got engaged during the same year.
Carney and Branch welcomed their first child together in 2018. They then tied the knot a year later, and had their daughter earlier in 2022.
