Dwyane Wade Debuts New Quarantine Hair, Fans Give Mixed Reactions
Retired NBA basketball player showed off his new hair this week, garnering both positive and negative from fans.
Today reports that Wade has joined the list of celebrities who took this time during the quarantine to have a makeover. This includes Hilary Duff who dyed her hair blue and Blake Shelton who is now sporting a mullet.
For Wade, his hair transformation came in two parts. His first post showed him with pastel pink hair. The reaction of some fans was not very favorable. But by the next day, he further dyed his hair to a more vibrant red.
But it turns out this hair makeover was part of his bonding time with his daughter Zaya. The athlete showed pictures of Zaya sporting the same colorful hair.
Zaya is Wade's child with first wife, Siohvaughn Funches. The two were high school sweethearts and got married in 2002. They divorced in 2010 and Wade was given sole custody of their two sons, Zaire and Zion. It was earlier this year when Zion came out as a transgender and proceeded to change her name to Zaya.
Wade and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union has been nothing but supportive of her transition, and this hair makeover just goes to show how far he is willing to go to show his daughter his love for her.
Although there were some who voiced their negative reactions to the transformation, one person who gave his approval, as reported by Heat Nation, was none other than Dennis Rodman. The former player was known for his eccentric hair in the court so his approval comes as no surprise.
Aside from having hair makeovers with his daughter, Wade has pretty much just been having the time of his life during the quarantine. He played his last game for Miami Heat on April 9, 018.
During his time in the NBA, he has won the championship three times, in 2006, 2012 and 2013. He was also awarded as the Finals MVP in 2006 and the scoring champion in 2009. He is also Miami Heat's all-time leading scorer and assists leader.
Aside from Zaya, Wade is also father to three other children and he is also taking care of his nephew. He and his wife Gabrielle Union struggled to conceive and had to go through more than five miscarriages as Gabrielle was diagnosed with adenomyosis. They eventually opted to have a baby through surrogacy and in 2018, welcomed their daughter into the world.
