Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton have been friends for years but they are now being pitted against each other.

A source told National Enquirer that McEntire wants to restart her sitcom career but she’s worried that doing so will huge Parton’s feelings. After all, they have similar backgrounds and they are both great performers as well.

“There has always been a friendly rivalry there, only now Reba’s pressing Dolly’s buttons big time. Reba’s always trying to one-up Dolly in everything she does,” the source said.

The insider also claimed that McEntire wants to cement her entertainment legacy with a blockbuster opportunity that might come her way. But every time she tries to do so in the past, Parton would always upstage her.

“She’s not bitter or bitchy about it, but there’s a ruthless and kind of restless streak there for sure, and a part of Reba would love to get one over on her old pal,” the source said.

According to the source, it has never been Parton’s intention to overshadow McEntire in any way especially since the country singer adores her pal.

“Dolly loves Reba, but she can find her a little intense at times. Everyone knows Dolly’s the undisputed queen of the country. Everything she touches turns to gold. She’s got her music, her production, her amusement park, and many other endeavors. But Reba’s telling all their mutual friends she’s going to be bigger than Dolly,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. As of late, it’s unclear why Parton and McEntire are being pitted against each other. After all, the tabloid’s story is obviously unfounded.

Even though it’s true that McEntire wants to return to acting in sitcoms, she’s not competing with Parton in any way. And since the tabloid did not talk to the two personalities, there’s no way for them to know how McEntire and Parton really think and feel about each other.

Meanwhile, Parton has also been making headlines in recent months after other tabloids alleged that she cut ties with Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband and former father-in-law following the singer’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

However, these claims have not been proven either. Parton can’t cut ties with Clarkson’s former father-in-law because they were in a relationship before.
