Queen Elizabeth To ‘Summon’ William, Kate After Reportedly ‘Defying’ Royal Rule? The Truth Explained
A royal commentator believes that Queen Elizabeth II could summon Prince William and Kate Middleton when they return from their holiday break.
It comes after the future King and Queen Consort appeared to have recently “defied” a royal rule, according to Express UK.
Richard Palmer began the conversation about the matter in an episode of the outlet’s “Royal Round-Up” podcast. He shared that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their three children, flew on the same helicopter last week for their holiday break.
The royal correspondent consequently noted that he was “curious” about the move because of what he learned a few months ago. He recalled that the Queen was “very concerned” about the Cambridge Royals traveling together in one helicopter, noting that he was told it happened.
Palmer explained that Prince William and his three children are the direct heirs of Queen Elizabeth. He pointed out that they are the “second, third, fourth, and fifth in line to the [British] Throne.”
The British Monarch reportedly had “several” talks with the Duke of Cambridge six months ago, urging him to “stop flying himself,” especially during bad weather.
Following the statements, royal commentator Neil Sean suggested that Queen Elizabeth could demand the presence of the Cambridge couple in Windsor and ask them to explain themselves.
The publication later quoted the expert, saying, “When Prince William and Catherine return back from their short break, they will be summoned to Windsor to explain the cause of their actions.”
A separate report from Express UK noted that Prince William is not technically allowed to travel with any of his children. It explained that it is because of their high-profile statuses and positions on the line of succession.
It consequently recalled what the Royal Family’s press office previously told Newsround. As quoted, “They had to ask [Queen Elizabeth] for permission,” adding, “It is something that the Queen has the final say on.”
The outlet countered, however, that this would apply when the royal couple’s first-born child turns 12. It added that the young royal will be required to fly separately from the Duke of Cambridge, from then on, to protect the future of the British Monarchy.
Meanwhile, it is understood that Prince William and Kate Middleton are spending their holiday break with their three children at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
Royal author Katie Nicholl told OK! magazine last week that this was expected because “that’s what they do every year.” She also asserted that the holiday break would provide a “sense of normality” to the family ahead of their reported relocation from Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage.
