Princess Beatrice Shock: Unlike Kate And Meghan, York Princess Reportedly Broke A Royal Wedding Tradition
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi tied the knot amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite all their attempts to maintain the royal traditions for their wedding, they reportedly broke one, unlike Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Express UK recalled that the Princess of York and her husband originally planned to marry in May 2020. However, they had to postpone the special event to a much later date due to the COVID-19 lockdown in the United Kingdom.
The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and the English property developer were able to tie the knot in July 2020. But, considering the measures and protocols in place because of the coronavirus crisis, it reportedly cost them a royal tradition.
The publication explained that, traditionally, the bride and the groom of a royal wedding should spend the night before the ceremony apart, with the former often staying with family and friends.
But, because of the restrictions, as well as staying in the “bubble,” Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi reportedly decided to spend the night together before their wedding day.
It is noted that breaking the tradition is “almost unheard of” within the Royal Firm. Most, if not all, married British Royals reportedly waited to see their spouses at the altar, and these include Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.
As explained, the Duchess of Cambridge, who tied the knot with Prince William in 2011, stayed at the Goring Hotel the night before her wedding day. She was reportedly with her mother and sister, Carole and Pippa Middleton, adding that the venue is one of Queen Elizabeth’s top choices of places to stay.
Similarly, the Duchess of Sussex is said to have stayed with her mother, Doria Ragland, at the Cliveden House Hotel, situated nine miles north of Windsor, on the eve of her wedding to Prince Harry. She and the Duke of Sussex exchanged vows and tied the knot in 2018.
Some royal experts also believed that Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi almost broke a royal wedding protocol in terms of the venue.
A separate report from Express UK said that the assertions were from Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie, taking place after the royal couple welcomed their first child in 2021.
In an episode of the two royal commentators’ podcast, “Royally Obsessed, they discussed how the Princess of York and her husband were supposedly planning to tie the knot in the Italian city of Siena.
A source told them it was part of the pair’s original wedding plan, and they would have broken royal protocol had it happened.
The experts consequently explained that royal weddings are traditionally done in the United Kingdom.
