Prince Harry Deemed Man ‘Of The People’ Following ‘Adjusted Accent’: Royal Expert
Prince Harry reportedly seemed to have recently “toned down” and “adjusted” his British accent. It comes as his new video for his mental health app, Better Up, surfaced across media platforms earlier this week.
Following the reported change in his accent, an expert described the Duke of Sussex as a man “of the people” more than a royal. The assertions were from Emma Serlin, the founder of the London Speech Workshop, according to Geo News.
The speech and language expert explained that the royal-born Prince’s accent “now sounds much more rounded and middle rather than upper class.” She noted that the royal is “doing what we know him to be,” adding that he is a “friendly prince,” “charming,” and “he connects with people.”
The outlet later quoted Serlin, saying, “[Prince Harry] is now ‘of the people’ in a much more overt way.” She continues, “He has always toned the classic royal accent down and softened it, previously he was much more aligned with the [British] Royal Family.”
The language expert also asserted that the Duke of Sussex has “hardly” seen his family in the last two years. With this, “not only is he no longer aligned with them in the same way, but he also does not spend time with them in the same way.”
Accordingly, for the speech pro, the royal-born Prince has now “adapted his accent to connect more with the people he is meeting and seeing every day, and the people around him.”
The video in question features Prince Harry as he discussed mental fitness with Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim and psychologist Adam Grant. Express UK said that the material is a short film for BetterUp, noting that it is a campaign as part of the royal’s role in the U.S.-based coaching company.
At one point in the clip, the royal-born Prince asks, “What does the term mental fitness mean to you?”
He also later wondered how the athlete would describe her relationship between the mind and body “when it comes to operating at peak performance.”
Meanwhile, netizens expressed their thoughts and sentiments regarding the speech expert’s assertions about Prince Harry’s adjusted accent.
In the comment section of one of Express UK’s recent reports, many individuals appeared to have slammed the Duke of Sussex, as well as the claims about him being a “man of the people.”
Some argued that the royal-born Prince is “not ‘of the people’ [as] he is ‘of himself.’” Others seemingly agreed, with one saying, he is “nothing like the people of this world.”
There are a few netizens who also accused him of having a “fake accent” in the video. Some even stated that it is “sad,” and many appeared to have agreed after liking the comment.
