Mary-Kate Olsen might have wanted to keep her divorce a private matter but insiders claimed that her ex-husband will make sure it gets nastier than it should be. Her ex, Olivier, looks like a fun guy but he will make sure the former child actress will not get off easily or quietly. 

The coronavirus pandemic made sure that Mary-Kate Olsen could not keep her divorce silent and out of the public’s very prying eyes, especially now that everyone’s essentially at home and just online. The former actress turned business mogul, intended to keep her divorce documents a secret but the crisis ruined her plans.

The papers, filed on May 14, should have been sealed since they are delicate and sensitive. However, because the New York State Supreme Courts are closed, they immediately went into an e-filing system and not sealed as they should have been, according to some legal experts. 

An insider close to this particular Olsen twin claimed that having the documents went public like that certainly shattered Mary-Kate. She’s a very private individual, as fans would know after she and her sister Ashley decided to keep out of the limelight.

But things had to be this way. Mary-Kate Olsen had to file for an emergency divorce petition earlier this month or else she could have been forced out of her home by husband Olivier Sarkozy.

Her friends claimed that the actress-turned-fashion designer is a very strong woman, and would have not rushed the filing of the papers if she did not feel surely threatened. Olivier, 50, did not just end their marriage, but also the lease of their Gramercy Park apartment.

They were paying $29,000 a month for this apartment. 

“Mary-Kate is okay,” said the fashion source. “But it would not have been her decision to end a marriage and move during a pandemic.”

Insiders however are still worried if Mary-Kate can truly survive a fight with Olivier. The guy may appear cheery in public but he can really be tough to go up against. His first divorce was quite scandalous so Mary-Kate has to prepare as well.

None of these is really about money and Mary-Kate can very well handle herself on that part. However, this probably can emotionally wreck her, especially if it goes more public than it already is.

One source even said that once the marriage is truly over, Mary-Kate could expect a stranger in Olivier.  “He sees himself as the alpha male,” a source said. He explained that a typical French guy can become quite cold when a relationship is done and over with. 

One would think Mary-Kate Olsen can certainly live with that since she would rather move on as well.
