Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Say Their Shared Trauma Brought Them Together
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are without an iota of doubt one of the most talented musicians in the world. The duo has had its share of tough times and recently the Just a Girl singer opened up about how their earlier struggles brought them closer together.
The rumor mill began churning out speculations about Stefani and Shelton's relationship in 2015, just a year after they met on The Voice set. This was the time when Stefani was undergoing a terrible divorce with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, who shares three children with her. Rossdale reportedly cheated on her with the nanny.
Likewise, the popular country music singer was going through an equally-horrific divorce with his ex-wife Miranda Lambert. Stefani didn't know about Shelton when they were first introduced but became inseparable as soon as the "Austin" singer announced he and Lambert were getting divorced to his fellow coaches during one of the episodes of NBC's popular singing competition TV series.
Much to the delight of their fans, Stefani and Shelton kept posting adorable pictures together on their social media platforms and even performed on stage together. Shelton has proved to be a great father figure for Stefani's kids, and she says that their love story seems like something straight out of a storybook. It is no secret that they are crazy about each other.
Both Stefani, as well as Shelton, have admitted that the trauma associated with their respective divorces, gave them a chance to support each other and brought them closer as a couple. Recalling the hard-to-deal-with trauma of her divorce, Stefani told TODAY that the kind of trauma she was going through amid her divorce and to have someone to rely on as a best friend and trust to go through with was what got her closer to Shelton.
Moreover, she admits that Shelton's presence in her life at the time was powerful and reassuring and that led to them falling deeply in love. In an interview with Extra back in 2016, Stefani compared meeting Shelton with being handed over a gift of a friend who was undergoing the same thing at the same time.
The former No Doubt member said everything flipped after she met Shelton as things changed from horrible to hopeful with some element of excitement about what's in store for them. Talking to InTouch Weekly in 2016, Shelton said Stefani saved his life, adding that no one else could have understood the trauma associated with a high-profile divorce, adding that there were a lot of similarities in their divorce.
