Joe Biden Crisis: Republicans Send Almost 100 Requests To Open Information in President's Family Business Dealings Specifically His Son Hunter
Top House Republicans wrote on Friday night that they had submitted almost 100 requests for information on President Joe Biden's family's business ties and that many of them had gone unanswered.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, along with the ranking members of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, Reps. Jim Jordan and James Comer, have suggested that if Republicans win a majority of Congressional seats in November, they may open Congressional investigations into the Biden family, specifically the president's son Hunter.
Republicans Urge To Investigate Biden Family's Business Deals
In an op-ed published in the New York Post, they claim to have discovered proof that the president's relatives benefitted from his years-long career in Washington despite Democrats' unwillingness to participate with such efforts. In October 2020, the Post was the first to report on the contents of a hard drive from Hunter Biden's computer, which featured obscene photographs of sex activities and drug usage.
The primary scandal, though, stemmed from emails and documents purported to show Hunter Biden profiting on his family name. The Post and subsequently DailyMail.com validated the hard drive, but it was disregarded by the mainstream media until it was confirmed by the Washington Post early this year.
The White House did not respond quickly to a request for comment. They cited Hunter Biden's stint on the board of Ukrainian oil company Burisma as proof, despite having no prior expertise in the area. As US Vice President at the time, his father played a key role in regional anti-corruption initiatives.
McCarthy also mentioned a phone discussion between Hunter Biden and British artist Phillipa Horan in which the now-son president boasted about his influence on his father in 2018. The smoking gun, according to House Republicans, is an email found from the laptop that appears to be splitting shares in a Chinese business venture between Hunter Biden and his pals.
In the email, he appears to request that 10% be put aside for "the big man," who GOP legislators have assumed is Biden himself. Critics of Biden argue that the voicemail proves the president lied when he stated he never discussed his son's business transactions, as per Daily Mail.
Hunter Biden's Laptop Update
Meanwhile, Hunter Biden's hard drive contained the contact information of US officials overseeing China policy and at least ten Google executives, raising further concerns about his questionable business dealings, which may have been made through his father Joe Biden's connections, according to The New York Post.
Hunter Biden approached Google for finance for Chinese enterprises, a former official at the firm said to the Washington Post on Saturday. Several higher-level executives at the corporation eventually worked for the Obama-Biden administration while Joe Biden was vice president, according to the executive.
Contact information for former Secretary of State John Kerry and former US Ambassador to China Max Baucus, both of whom served when Biden was vice president, was also allegedly discovered on Hunter Biden's notorious laptop, which was abandoned at a Delaware repair shop in 2019.
According to a Trafalgar Group poll conducted in April, over two-thirds of US voters feel President Biden is compromised because of his and his family's links to China, Just The News reported.
