Michael Douglas couldn’t allegedly keep up with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones.

In its July 11 issue, Globe claimed the couple’s 25-year age gap is finally taking a toll on the veteran actor.

“Their 25-year age gap was always going to bite them at some point and that’s what Michael’s dealing with right now as he closes in on his 80s and becomes way less agile and energetic,” the source said.

The insider added that Douglas has been showing signs that he’s slowing down while Zeta-Jones has been charging around and throwing her heart and soul into different ventures.

More specifically, the actress allegedly loves playing golf. And she also enjoys it when good-looking men stare at her.

On the other hand, Douglas wants to watch his wife play golf but he can barely get out of his house because of his advancing age.

“Michael would love to be there with her all the time, but the harsh reality is he cannot live with that pace at this time of life. He’s more into his reading and relaxing and finds it a real challenge to do much else than enjoy a nice hot meal and go right to bed,” the source said.

The source added that the changes that Douglas is experiencing are also causing tension in their marriage.

“He simply has to take things easier. That’s tough on him and Catherine. Thankfully, though, she’s extremely understanding. They make the most of the time they got together,” the source said.

However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. As of late, there’s no proof that Douglas’ advancing case is causing problems in his marriage.

When Douglas and Zeta-Jones tied the knot years ago, they were already aware of their 25-year age gap. So, it is highly likely for the couple to have prepared for the day when their age difference would become more evident.

But for now, Douglas and Zeta-Jones seem to be doing great. And the claims made by the tabloid are just their way of creating drama between the couple even when there’s none.

For the longest time, the unreliable tabloids have been insisting that Douglas and Zeta-Jones are on the brink of divorce even when they are not. The couple is still together and they intend to stay this way for the rest of their lives.
