Prince William wasn’t always thrilled about his future, but over time, he learned to accept the fact that he will become the king of Britain.

During a recent interview, royal expert Richard Kay said that Queen Elizabeth was instrumental in helping Prince William accept his future role.

Since the Duke of Cambridge didn’t grow up with a mom, the queen stepped in to be a guiding force in his life.

According to Kay, the queen allowed her grandson to settle into his ordinary life, have a normal job, and marry an ordinary citizen. Over time, Prince William came to accept his role because he already lived a pretty normal life.

“I remember writing about him [William] when he didn't want to be addressed as HRH His Royal Highness. He went through that long period, in the 20s, where he was determined to kick his royal role down the road. The queen and Prince Charles, and indeed the country, were very indulgent of him,” Kay said (via Express). 

But now that Prince William is already in his 40s, he appears to be well-adjusted to the demands of his future role. He also learned how to navigate the pressures of being king with the help of his grandmother.

Kay also believes that Prince William matured over time. He has learned to deal with issues pertaining to his privacy without compromising the safety of his wife and children.

But earlier this week, the dad of three made headlines after a video from last year surfaced. In the clip, Prince William lashes out at a stalker that tried to take photos of him and his children during their bike ride.

The Duke of Cambridge is screaming in the video. And he also tells the man that what he’s doing is disgusting. He tried to ask for the man’s name but he refused to give it to him.

Prince William’s reaction to the stalker did not upset royal fans. In fact, they believe that the mystery man deserved the Duke of Cambridge’s reaction. But this didn’t also stop some of his critics to accuse him of having a bad temper.

A royal expert recently said that Prince William’s temper contributed to his fallout with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Until today, the brothers’ relationship still hasn’t been repaired.
