Enraged Tom Hanks Yells At 'Overzealous' Fans After They Nearly Knock Wife Rita Wilson Over
A group of fans almost caused Rita Wilson to fall, leading Tom Hanks to yell at them.
Page Six reported that the 65-year-old actor transformed from actor to protector after realizing what happened. “Overzealous” fans nearly knocked over his wife, who ended up “losing her footing and wobbling away,” after trying to get too close to the celebrity couple.
Wilson, at one point, shouted “stop it” to the fans when someone bumped into her from her back. For Hanks’ part, he yelled, “My wife?” before screaming, “Back the f**k off! Knocking over my wife?”
One fan later reportedly apologized, saying, “Sorry about that, Tom.”
Following the incident, the two celebrities hustled into a waiting car.
People released a similar report about the incident. It noted that a video footage of what happened has surfaced across media platforms, with TMZ first sharing it on Thursday.
The magazine continued that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were in New York City when it all occurred.
Some reports noted that the “Cast Away” star has been on a press tour to promote his upcoming movie, “Elvis,” these past few weeks.
The two celebrities, alongside their reps, have reportedly yet to make official statements about the matter.
Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks just recently celebrated a relationship milestone. They marked their 34th wedding anniversary, with the 65-year-old actress paying sweet tributes on social media.
The “Sleepless In Seattle” star shared a photo from her and her husband’s 1988 wedding on Instagram. She captioned it with “34th. 1988-2022,” alongside a couple of heart emojis.
The same publication said the picture “captures [the two celebrities’] marital bliss all those years ago.” It features the pair holding hands, with their “overjoyed smiles,” as they walk towards the camera.
On the same platform, Wilson shared the same photo on its “Story” feature. She reportedly set the sounds to “The Best Days of Our Lives.”
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson first met in 1981 when they worked on the set of “Bosom Buddies.” At the time, though, he was still married to Samantha Lewes, who he married in 1978.
The two celebrities reunited three years later to star in the 1985 film, “Volunteers.” It was where their friendship began that “quickly led to romance,” according to Us Weekly.
Wilson and Hanks debuted their romance to the public in late 1986. They also attended the 1987 Academy Awards together, reportedly sparking their reign as one of most “favorite power couples” in Hollywood.
In 1988, the two celebrities tied the knot. They welcomed their first son in 1990 and another child five years later.
