Kate Middleton will never be queen even after Prince William ascends the throne.

According to Express, the Duchess of Cambridge will simply be known as queen consort.

Since Middleton is not a royal by blood, she cannot be given the title of queen. After all, the title is only reserved for members of the royal family.

Prince William’s wife became a royal because of their marriage. And if Middleton didn’t wed Prince William, she will remain a commoner.

However, Princess Charlotte may have the opportunity to become the future queen. That is if Prince George abdicates from the throne while he still doesn’t have children.

A similar thing happened with King George VI and his older brother, Edward VIII. The latter became king of the United Kingdom from Jan. 20, 1936 to Dec. 11, 1936.

Edward VIII decided to abdicate from the throne. And because he didn’t have any children, his brother, George VI became the new king.

In the event that this happens with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the latter will be known as queen because she has royal blood.

Meanwhile, some royal fans are also wondering why Middleton is not known as Princess Kate but the late Princess Diana used the title of princess.

The publication explained that Middleton is actually a princess. And her children’s birth certificates state that her occupation is the Princess of the United Kingdom. However, she simply doesn’t use the title on a daily basis.

Princess Diana wasn’t technically a princess but she became known by the public and the media as Princess Diana so she used the royal title. However, the late royal’s official title was Diana, Princess of Wales following her marriage to Prince Charles.

In related news, Prince William and Middleton also made headlines this week after they appeared in a hilarious video while playing bingo.

The royal couple hosted a bingo session with the residents of a nursing home and their healthcare workers. And the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge couldn’t stop giggling the entire time.

In the video uploaded on their official Instagram account, the royal couple used rhyming words while giving out their drawn numbers.

After the bingo session is over, Prince William and Middleton spoke with some of the residents at the nursing home. Prince William asked Joan if they did well and the resident said that they could’ve done better. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge broke out in laughter after hearing the comment.
