Meghan Markle To Cancel Upcoming Return To UK For Platinum Jubilee Celebrations? Fans Believe So
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry already confirmed their attendance to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June. But, some royal watchers and fans have reportedly begun speculating about a potential cancellation of the trip.
The International News reported that there have been talks about the former actress possibly withdrawing from her attendance to the historic event next month. As explained, this comes after Thomas Markle Sr. has reportedly suffered a “major stroke.”
Following his reported admittance to a hospital later on Monday, fans and experts are said to have wondered what the Duchess of Sussex will do. Many of them believe that she might cancel her trip next month if her father’s condition deteriorates.
Reports about Thomas Markle Sr.’s health concerns first emerged in TMZ on Tuesday, according to Page Six. It noted that there are photos of the retired television lighting director being loaded into an ambulance in Tijuana, Mexico, adding that he had an oxygen mask across his face.
Meghan Markle’s estranged father was reportedly rushed across the border and admitted to a hospital in California. As claimed, he could not speak to paramedics, and pen and paper were needed to converse with him.
The former working royal’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, released an official statement regarding the incident. She told the Daily Mail that Markle Sr. is “recovering in [the] hospital.”
She also asked for “privacy” for their family and for her father’s “health and wellbeing.” He needs “peace and rest,” with her noting that it is a “travesty how much he’s been tortured and how much he’s had to go through,” thanks to the Duchess of Sussex’s “disregard the past few years.”
Meghan Markle has yet to make a comment regarding the matter. It also remains unclear whether this will affect her plans to return to the United Kingdom next month.
The royal-born Prince and the former actress are set to fly back to the former’s home country in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. A spokesperson for the pair confirmed earlier this month that they are “excited and honored” to be there, alongside their two children.
No further details have since surfaced with regard to their return to the country. It remains unknown when they will fly or how long they will stay in the royals' turf.
What is clear, though, is that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will not take part in this year’s balcony appearance during the Trooping the Colour. Per the palace’s official announcement, only working royals of the British Monarchy will participate, along with the British Monarch.
