Jada Pinkett-Smith Allegedly Urged Will Smith To Seek Help For His Temper Or She’ll Divorce Him
Jada Pinkett-Smith is allegedly threatening to divorce Will Smith following the latter’s Oscar's slap.
In its April 18 issue, National Enquirer claimed that Pinkett-Smith gave her husband an ultimatum to seek professional help for his temper or she’ll file a divorce.
Even though Smith slapped Chris Rock because the latter teased his wife, the Red Table Talk host wasn’t allegedly impressed with what her husband did. Pinkett-Smith believes that her husband has a temper and that he needs to do something about it.
“Will’s temper has been an issue for years, as has his ego, which took a huge hit when Jada’s affair with August became public. Will’s always felt certain people like Chris Rock were laughing about how emasculated he allowed himself to be,” the source said.
A doctor told the tabloid that Smith’s angry outbursts may have been the result of what he witnessed growing up. At the age of 9, the Aladdin actor revealed that he saw his mom being beaten by his dad.
“A history of toxic or traumatic upbringings often lay the groundwork for how we view our relationships and ourselves as we enter adulthood. It may very well be that Rock’s remark triggered something in Will to respond how he did,” the doctor said.
A psychologist also claimed that it wasn’t unusual for Smith’s childhood trauma to have affected his behavior growing up.
“If you have a man who grew up watching his mother be abused mentally, physically, emotionally, and however else, and then to watch the woman he loves get insulted, that inner child in him said, ‘This time I’m going to stand up. This time I will not ignore it. This time I will fight back,’” the psychologist said.
While it is true that Smith’s traumatic childhood may have impacted his life negatively, there’s no proof that his temper is a dealbreaker for his wife.
In fact, Pinkett-Smith continues to stand by Smith’s side after the debacle. And it’s not also true that she’s threatening to divorce him if he won’t seek professional help.
As of late, it’s unclear what The Pursuit of Happyness actor plans to do. But his wife isn’t forcing him to get professional help to address his anger issues.
Smith will also be taking a backseat in the coming months and years since he has been suspended from the Oscars for an entire decade.
