Kim Kardashian Apologizes For Controversial 'Work' Advice To Women Following Backlash
Kim Kardashian recently broke her silence about the controversial comment she made earlier this month. She apologized and emphasized that it was “taken out of context.”
Life & Style reported that the reality star opened up about the matter in an interview with “Good Morning America” on Monday. She began by saying that the “advice” became a “sound bite really with no context.”
Kardashian explained that her meaning was a success does not happen overnight, and one has to “really work hard to get there.” She, also, stated that her previous comment was not a “blanket statement towards women or to feel like [she] does not respect the work or think that they do not work hard.”
The reality star acknowledged that she knows they do before saying it was all “taken out of context.” She, then, said, “sorry if it was received that way.”
The controversial comment she made took place during an interview with Variety earlier this month. Us Weekly recalled that the clip featuring Kim Kardashian as she shared her “best advice for women in business,” went viral.
The SKIMS founder stated, “get your f***ing ass up and work,” noting that it is her best advice. She consequently asserted that “it seems like nobody wants to work these days.”
Kardashian, also, said that one has to surround themselves “with people that [want to] work.” She encouraged having a “good work environment where everyone loves what they do,” adding “no toxic work environments.”
Hours after the publication of the interview, Kim Kardashian sparked waves of backlash and criticisms from netizens, even celebrities. These individuals, in response, expressed their outrage on social media platforms, according to BuzzFeed News.
The outlet reported that critics were quick to emphasize that the reality star “was born into a life of immense privilege in Beverly Hills.” With a significant head start in life, netizens reportedly suggested that she should not be giving advice about success.
Some of the negative remarks she received include being “tone deaf,” “offensive,” and “out of touch.”
The talks about the matter come weeks ahead of the debut of “The Kardashians” series on Hulu. People said that Kim Kardashian, who is currently making headlines with her romance with Pete Davidson, is gearing up for the new reality show’s arrival, alongside the rest of the family.
The KKW Beauty is, also, said to be continuing to pursue her career as an attorney, and dreams of building a “successful law firm” in the long run.
