Is Tom Hanks Cashing In On Coronavirus? Idris Elba Says It's A 'Stupid' Theory
Tom Hanks and other celebrities, such as Idris Elba, Kevin Durant, and Charlotte Lawrence, have tested positive for the dreaded, deadly coronavirus. While the world worries about them and their health, a recent Instagram post by Cardi B had it that these celebrities are merely faking their condition. Worse, they’re supposedly cashing in on the phenomenon by claiming they have the virus.
Idris Elba feels beyond insulted and slammed these allegations. He did not find it appropriate for anyone to claim that celebrities are being paid to say they have a virus. In an Instagram Live session, the 47-year-old actor could not help but swear that someone would think of this theory. In this particular Live session, he was with his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, and it was apparent that he could not keep his emotions in check.
Given the severity of the situation, Elba found it ludicrous that someone could have thought celebrities will accept cash just to say they have been infected, as reported by Page Six.
“This idea that someone like myself is going to be paid to say I have coronavirus, that’s like, absolute bulls–t,” Elba said. “It’s stupid. It’s the quickest way to … get people sick,” Elba added.
According to the actor, no one is likely to benefit from saying they have the disease even though they do not. He did not name Cardi B, but his fans naturally understand who he was referring to.
It can be remembered that the singer-actress took to her own Instagram Live earlier to say that she believes certain celebrities are getting paid in exchange for saying they have coronavirus to the public. Given the praises that Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson are getting for not keeping their diagnosis a secret and making people more alert of the virus, her theory naturally sounds off. Hanks recently shared an update about their conditions and claimed they are both starting to feel better, even though there are still “blah” days.
She also did not say who are the celebrities cashing in on the panic but did say seeing basketball players claiming they have the infection even if they have no symptoms made her think of this theory.
She even said that if there are people getting paid to say they are infected, she hopes she gets paid too! On that long post, she lamented the fact that no one wants to go outside, wishes she can go home and plays around with the idea that a Martial Law can be declared.
