Prince Harry To Potentially Live ‘Lifetime Filled With Regret’, Expert Warns
Prince Harry may face the rest of his life with regret due to his recent decision. He will not return to the United Kingdom to attend the upcoming memorial service honoring his late grandfather, Prince Philip.
Express UK said that the warning came from Victoria Arbiter, who wrote a piece about the matter for 9Honey. She, also, deemed the move “inevitably disappointing.”
The royal expert explained that the event, which will take place later this month, will likely have a “strong turnout from extended members” of the British Royal Family. She asserted that these individuals “will be keen to provide” Queen Elizabeth II a “sense of unity as she publicly mourns her husband once again.”
Arbiter continued that while the British Monarch will not “hold a grudge,” it would be better for the Duke of Sussex to take the opportunity and “make his peace.” This is in comparison to living his “lifetime filled with potential regret,” adding that there are “no second chances” for these kinds of occasions.
Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Prince Harry confirmed that he will not be returning to his home country for the Service of Thanksgiving. He, however, hopes to visit Queen Elizabeth II “as soon as possible,” according to Today.
No other details regarding his decision have yet to emerge. He, alongside his camp, has not provided any reason why he has decided not to fly back to the United Kingdom and attend the special memorial service.
Some have reportedly suggested that the move is a “response” to Prince Harry's ongoing security row after seeking a judicial review of the Home Office’s decision. But, experts asserted that this argument “falls a bit flat” upon considering the security that will be present on the day of the event.
The Service of Thanksgiving will take place on March 29 at Westminster Abbey. As per Buckingham Palace’s most recent announcement regarding the event, the service will “give thanks for the Duke of Edinburgh’s dedication to family, nation, and commonwealth,” according to a separate report from Express UK.
It will, also, “recognize the importance of [the late royal]’s legacy in creating opportunities for young people, promoting environmental stewardship and conservation, and supporting the Armed Forces.”
The publication consequently noted that hundreds of people are expected to attend the special memorial service, which will feature “reading,” as well as “music close to the Duke’s heart.” These include members of the British Royal Family, except Prince Harry and his family.
