Prince Charles has repeatedly sparked health concerns over the years. This comes as he always appears to have swollen hands and feet, especially during royal outings and tours.

Express UK recently recalled these incidents amid the royal-born Prince’s official tour in Ireland. While he seems to be doing well in his latest outing, the publication looked back at the previous trips he made, wherein he stepped out with his hands and fingers, looking red and bloated.

As stated, the Prince of Wales’ health was highlighted in 2019 during his royal tour to India. Eagle-eyed royal watchers could not reportedly help but notice his swollen fingers and toes.

In 2021, Prince Charles, once again, had the same condition during a royal engagement at a pub in south London. Photos of him holding a glass show his red and bloated fingers, prompting concerns among the public.

A separate report from Express UK, also, claimed that the royal’s fingers drew attention, as well, during the funeral of Prince Philip in April.

This appears to have become usual for the Prince of Wales because, back in 2012, he referred to them as “sausage fingers,” poking fun at himself amid his tour to Australia.

The publication, nevertheless, explained Prince Charles’ condition, which the NHS refers to as “oedema.” It is said to be the swelling of arms and hands due to “fluid build-up,” although it often goes away on its own.

Aside from the swelling or bloating of arms, hands, and fingers, other symptoms include “shiny, stretched, and/or red skin.” As for the cause, it can be due to a “variety of things.”

Metro UK released a similar report on the matter, discussing the same condition. As pointed out, poor circulation, arthritis, or water retention are some of the possible causes, according to experts.

In the case of the Prince of Wales, it was claimed that he often suffers from it during foreign trips. This appears to be especially true when the location houses “hot climates.”

Meanwhile, Prince Charles is currently well in terms of his fitness and health. He contracted COVID-19 earlier in February for the second time.

CNN recalled that the future King first tested positive for the novel coronavirus in March 2020. Although, he only experienced “mild symptoms,” with him saying that he had “got away with quite lightly.”

Camilla Parker Bowles, also, tested positive for the virus last month. Weeks later, Queen Elizabeth II contracted COVID-19 but they all have since recovered from it.
